High Leverage Teaching Practices
The Teaching program at Oakland University places a strong emphasis on High-Leverage Teaching Practices. These practices are vital to becoming a successful teacher, as identified by TeachingWorks at the University of Michigan. It is important to note that TeachingWorks believes that teaching is a learned skill, not an innate ability. Therefore, with practice and improvement, anyone can become a highly effective teacher.
Below are the five high-leverage teaching practices I have been studying at Oakland for the past two years. Each link will redirect you to a high-leverage teaching practice analysis during my internship that includes a brief explanation of how the practice looks in my teaching, as well as video, presentation, audio, visual, and written evidence. These practices will be central to my development as I continue to grow as an educator.
